Law legalizing recreational marijuana passed in Canada
The Canadian Senate has passed a law legalizing recreational marijuana use in the country. The law was approved with 52 votes in favor, 30 against, and one abstention.
This bill will now go to the House of Representatives, which is dominated by Trudeau's liberals.
It should be remembered that Trudeau, when he was campaigning, made a promise to legalize marijuana, therefore everything indicates that this law should be approved by the House of Representatives.
According to Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould, this law “will create a strictly regulated market for cannabis, to keep it out of the reach of young people and deprive criminals of the profits.”.
Once Canadian MPs and senators agree on the text, only the royal seal will be needed for the legalization of cannabis to take effect.
