Colombian army burns marijuana and gets half the city high
The Colombian Army brought half the city of Florencia, capital of Caquetá, to a standstill with the burning of 819 kilos of 'cripy' type marijuana seized a few days ago in the Vereda Sincelejo of the Municipality of Solita and Curillo, in the south of the department of Caquetá.
The Colombian Army decided to burn the seized marijuana inside the courtyard of the Infantry Battalion No. 34 Juananbú in the municipality of Florencia, which is located in the heart of the capital of Caquetá.
The city was hosting its traditional trade and livestock fairs during these days. Citizens and tourists throughout the city noticed the strong odor emanating from the fire and made numerous calls to the emergency hotline.
The citizens and tourists were surprised to realize that the thick smoke accompanied by the strong smell of marijuana was coming from the 34th Infantry Battalion.
A resident of the Barrio de la Vega declared that there was immense smoke, people were complaining and that because of this the whole neighborhood was high.
The marijuana burning took place in the heart of the city

General Cesar Augusto Parra, commander of the Army's 12th Brigade, apologized to the community for the fire and its negative impact, stating that they hadn't anticipated such a significant effect on the entire city. He also clarified that the smoke was not from soldiers consuming marijuana, but rather from the burning of the 819 kilograms that had been seized.
Meanwhile, some consumers stayed for hours near the place, attracted by the strong smell, and many claimed to take advantage of their luck to avoid having to pay to consume marijuana.
