Cannabis 420 games invade Los Angeles
Created to eliminate the stigma surrounding cannabis and the people who use it, The 420 Games The sporting event has enjoyed great success in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park over the past two years. This March, The 420 Games will make its Los Angeles debut, the first stop on a four-state, six-city tour. Participants are "going the extra mile for cannabis" in this 4.2-mile race, which is longer than a typical 5K. The course takes runners from the Santa Monica Pier to Venice Beach and finishes back at the pier. Tickets can be purchased at420Games.org
In the last 18 months, 420 Games has gained nearly 60,000 Facebook followers and boasts a growing series of events. It recently appeared on Newsweek magazine According to Magazine, the 420 Games has announced multiple events in California, Colorado, Seattle, and Oregon. The series will feature marathons, mountain bike races, and stand-up paddleboard competitions, among other contests. Future venues include San Francisco, Boulder, Denver, Portland, and Seattle.

McAlpine 420 Games has been active in several causes. At the recent Walk AIDS in San Francisco, McAlpine led the cannabis team to 19 º Team Cannabis placed highest in the overall fundraising for the event, raising over 13,000. Team Cannabis brought in more money than the Google and Facebook teams; McAlpine himself was the fundraiser for his own team.
