Lidl supermarkets in Switzerland sell cannabis

Since last April, the German supermarket chain Lidl has been selling cannabis in its supermarkets in Switzerland.

The cannabis is sold in packets, and two sizes are available: a 1.5-gram box priced at 18 francs (approximately €15) and a 3-gram box for 20 francs (approximately €16.50). The product is touted for its relaxing and anti-inflammatory properties.

Cannabis with a high concentration of CBD and low in THC

This product shows a high concentration of cannabidiol (CBD) and a low concentration of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) less than 1%, as permitted by Swiss law.

According to Lidl's press release, these products are produced by a start-up called The Botanicals, and they claim that the 100% are grown in Switzerland in semi-automated greenhouses using natural methods. They state that they are cultivated without chemical or synthetic additives, without genetically modified elements, and in compliance with the guidelines of the European Medicines Agency.

It should be remembered that since 2011 in Switzerland it has been legal for people over 18 years of age to buy and consume cannabis with a tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) content of less than 1%.
