Demonstrations for the legalization of marijuana

This Saturday, May 7, 2016, many cities around the world hosted demonstrations demanding the legalization of marijuana. These demonstrations were held on World Marijuana Day, the first Saturday of May.

In the Spanish capital, Madrid, more than a thousand people have demonstrated demanding the responsible cultivation and regulation of marijuana use.

The demonstration was organized by four organizations, including the Federation of Cannabis Associations and Responsible Regulation, and this year's slogan was "sow the seeds of change for responsible regulation." It was held in a festive atmosphere, marching through the center of Madrid and led by a yellow bus playing reggae music from which cannabis was thrown.

The spokesperson for the Responsible Regulation platform, Bernardo Soriano, has called for "courage from the political class" to "engage in a debate" and also stated that "an objective technical committee should be created.".

Meanwhile, the PP remains against legalization, the PSOE believes the debate should be opened, and Podemos and Ciudadanos are in favor of responsible legalization.
