American women have turned to selling cannabis-derived products through social media.
Fifty years ago, Tupperware sales parties became popular. These gatherings, held in living rooms with several women, were initially intended to sell food storage containers. Over time, they expanded to include the sale of beauty products, jewelry, and medicinal herbs.
The big revolution came with the sale of sex toys and sexy lingerie at these meetings.
But these days, the trend is all about selling cannabis-derived products. And thanks to technology, these gatherings no longer take place in living rooms, but on social media.
Cannabis-derived products
The star product for sale, and the one with the highest demand, is cannabis oil. Now these women are looking to supplement their income in the cannabis market, especially with products made from CBD (cannabidiol). This is one of the most important non-psychoactive cannabinoids in cannabis.
The healing properties of CBD have not yet been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the agency that regulates food and drugs in the U.S. However, numerous studies attribute medicinal properties to it. These range from relieving nausea, epileptic seizures, migraines, arthritis, and inflammation to improving sleep problems and depression.
These sales also offer food supplements, baked goods, chocolate bars, sweets, lotions, scrubs, balms, deodorants, hemp oil capsules, powders to dissolve in food or drinks, inhalers, and suppositories.
There is a wide range of ways to consume cannabis without having to smoke it.
In 2018, $11 billion worth of cannabis-derived products were sold in the US, including medicinal and edible products.
According to Tom Adams, director of BDS Analytics, revenue is projected to reach $21 billion in 2021. This will create 292,000 jobs in the cannabis industry.
