How to germinate marijuana seeds – Tutorial

Germanization is the first step to obtaining a good marijuana plant.

One of the most important things to keep in mind is to always maintain good cleanliness; that is, before germinating seeds we must wash our hands well and have all the utensils very clean so as not to have any type of germ that could contaminate the medium where we are going to germinate the seeds.

There are several ways to germinate seeds and everyone has their own method, but below we will explain the way that seems most correct to us.

For seed germination we will need:
– A couple of plates or a Tupperware container.
– Kitchen napkins.
– Water sprayer.
- Flowerpot.

STEP 1 – HYDRATING THE MARIJUANA SEED

The first thing we need to do is put the marijuana seed Soak the seeds in a glass of water for 12 to 24 hours. This step is done to ensure the seeds are properly hydrated before germination. While not strictly necessary, it's always recommended for optimal hydration of the cannabis seeds.

STEP 2 – PREPARATION FOR GERMINATION

We should place a couple of damp kitchen towels on a plate, but not too wet. We can use a water spray bottle to moisten the towels.
One way to check that they are properly moistened and there is no excess water is to turn the plate slightly and the napkins should not fall off or drip water.
Once this is done, place the seed on the plate. If you have several seeds, place them so that there is a little space between them.

The next step is to place kitchen towels on another plate and moisten them following the previous steps. Then, place one plate on top of the other and make sure to keep the plates in a dark environment at a temperature between 20°C and 23°C.

You can also do the same thing using a Tupperware container. Simply place the seeds between damp paper towels (without excess water), close the container, and keep it at the appropriate temperature.

STEP 3 – GERMINATION

The seeds usually germinate between 48 and 72 hours, although it could be the case, under less than optimal conditions, that the seeds will germinate a few hours later.
We must make sure that the napkins remain moist during this period of time.
Once this period of time has passed, we will observe that the seeds have already opened and the root is emerging.

STEP 4 – TRANSFER THE SEED TO A POT

We will fill a small pot (8x8x12cm, approximately the size of a yogurt container) with unfertilized soil, as fertilizer could damage the germinated seed.

A very important step is to water BEFORE planting the seed in the pot. Water the soil thoroughly and make sure it has good drainage.

We will make a hole and place the seed in it, ensuring it is covered by about 5 mm of soil. Next, we will put the pot in a warm, sunny spot, but avoiding the hottest hours of the day. In about 48-72 hours, the seedling will emerge from the soil; during this time, we should add water if necessary.
