Nobody is scandalized by drinking a few beers, a few glasses of wine with a meal, a dessert shot of brandy, or a glass of wine after a meal; however, in the long term, these habits can have an effect equal to or more harmful than marijuana use.<\/p>\n

Alcohol damages the brain more than marijuana<\/h2>\n

A recent study conducted by the University of Colorado Boulder has determined that alcohol is more damaging to the brain than marijuana. This study, published in the journal Addiction, reveals that continued alcohol consumption over long periods causes more brain damage than similar marijuana use. The study examined the brains of more than 1,000 people of various ages.<\/p>\n

Scientists have been studying the effects of alcohol on the brain for many years, but much research remains to be done on the effects of continued marijuana use. It has simply been assumed that cannabinoids are harmful in the long term, given the immediate psychoactive effects of THC.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you look closely at the research on this topic, you see that much of what has been done isn\u2019t very accurate,\u201d explains Kent Hutchinson, professor of behavioral neuroscience at the University of Colorado Boulder and co-author of the study. \u201cThere\u2019s no consistency in that research with what we know today about the brain.\u201d.<\/p>\n

Gray matter and white matter in the brain<\/b><\/p>\n
