The state of Connecticut, in the United States, is about to join other states in the country where the use of medicinal marijuana for minors is already legal.<\/p>\n

The measure was approved by the local Senate and will go to the office of the state's Democratic governor, Dan Malloy, who must ratify it before it takes effect. <\/p>\n

The Connecticut State Senate passed the bill by a vote of 23 to 11; the bill has already been approved by the State House of Representatives.<\/p>\n

Senator Eric Coleman stated that "Parents should not be forced to choose between breaking the law or doing what is necessary to try to bring relief to their sick children.".<\/p>\n

In the United States, 23 states have laws that allow the consumption of marijuana for medicinal purposes and four others, in addition to the District of Columbia, have legalized its use for recreational purposes.<\/p>\n

At the current rate, the marijuana industry is expected to generate a $22.8 billion market by 2020, half of which would come from medicinal use and the other half from recreational use. <\/p>\n
