Catapult to launch marijuana into the US
Mexican and U.S. authorities dismantle a catapult used to launch marijuana over the Arizona border wall.
On February 10, near the border strip in the town of Douglas, the Tucson Sector Border Patrol detected several people around a catapult on the Mexican side of the wall to launch marijuana into the US, but they fled upon detecting the police presence and could not be apprehended.
Also found were 47 pounds of marijuana that had been thrown onto the American side.
The Arizona border continues to be one of the main drug trafficking corridors; during 2016 the Border Patrol seized more than half a ton of marijuana along the border, mostly in the Tucson Sector.
